RM of Turtle River’s story
The Rural Municipality of Turtle River No. 469 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 9, 1912. It takes its name from the Turtle River, which flows out of Turtle Lake and drains into the North Saskatchewan River near the Michaud Islands, across the river from Delmas.
The village of Edam lies within the RM, and the municipal office is located there. The unincorporated localities of Dulwich, St. Hippolyte and Vawn are also found within its boundaries.
Today the RM is governed by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Wednesday of each month. Visitors can stop in at the Washbrook Museum, one of the area's attractions.
